Proctor Mechanical Corporation was responsible for the selective demolition of portions of the high pressure steam system and replacing those portions with new.

18” steel pipe was lowered through a 13’ opening in the tunnel lid and manually moved down the tunnel to be fit into place to complete a 90’ section of the steam system. Where the tunnel was completely removed, existing piping was supported temporarily until the new tunnel structure could be built. The existing piping was then connected with the new.

Where the larger pipe was fit into the existing system, insulation was adapted to fit, providing similar efficiency while using nearly half as much space.

From the time the existing system was turned off and the tunnel was removed and re-built, we had approximately 12 weeks to complete the project.
