Job Description: 4 New Residence Halls

The Grinnell College project consists of the construction of 4 new Residence Hall buildings. These buildings are used as dormitories for the college and has been qualified as a LEEDS project. This has enable Grinnell College to accept this prestigious energy conservation award due to their energy and water saving measures. Many energy conservation measures have been incorporated including the use of water closets that are manufactured in Australia and use only .8 of gallon of water per flush. This is also a design assisted project with many of our value engineering ideas being incorporated.

The scope of this project includes the utilization of plant chilled water and steam systems and includes the extension of this system for future projects. Each building utilizes the chilled water for cooling and the steam is converted to a hot water system for heat. The rooms are heated and cooled by using fan coil units and the corridors use and air handling system with VAV boxes. One of these buildings has a communications center located within it and has 4 Leibart heating and cooling units that include an FM 2000 Fire Suppression System.
